Optimists Maidens CC (since 1993)

Come and join us….

Come and join us….

Background

The Optimists' Maidens Cricket Club grew out of the enthusiasm of a few ladies who, during the 1992 season, formed a team, played a couple of matches against Belgian teams and got hooked on playing cricket rather than baking cakes, making sandwiches and pouring tea for the men's matches! The club was officially created and registered in 1993 with 18 members, a few of which are still playing for the OMCC today!

Although we are an independent club, we are very grateful to have the full support of our father club, the OCC, who regularly organise cricket clinics, coaching, umpiring and scoring courses which many Maidens have taken and passed as well as providing us with qualified coaches and umpires from their ranks.

The 2018 summer season can only be described as wonderfully sunny and dry. Maidens only  ancelled one training due to rain and all games
took place as scheduled. Wednesdays were quite busy for us. We played friendlies against the European Parliament (x2), the European Court of Auditors (x2), Cargolux, ex-AngloAmerican and the so-called "Senior Optimists". Training was held every Wednesday and sometimes, due to enthusiasm shown, on Mondays too. Special thanks, of course, to our special coach - Deepak!
